Saturn of Flint to close Wednesday

FLINT (WJRT) -- (11/24/09)--Wednesday will mark the end of the road for a Mid-Michigan Saturn dealership.

Saturn of Flint will close its doors for good. At a time when people are preparing to give thanks, owner Pete Serra will say goodbye.

"I was here the day we opened the doors and we were excited about the future of Saturn in Flint," he said.

That day was Dec. 1, 1997. Serra remembers it just like it was yesterday when he opened the dealership nestled right off Lennon Road in Flint Township.

Over the next decade, the store would sell well over 10,000 new Saturns to customers in and around Genesee County.

Serra helped to place most of his 30 employees in other jobs. Some will go with him to his Saginaw County store, which will be known as Team Serra.

Customers concerned about warranty can get those issues taken care of at GM dealerships.

Al Serra Chevrolet in Grand Blanc is the authorized Saturn service dealer in this area.
