• According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 555,000 accidents nationally in January 2005. Arctic temperatures, slick streets, blinding precipitation, and increased travel during the winter season were key accident contributors. Sam Memmolo, automotive expert and host of Speed Channel's Two Guy's Garage says there are specific precautions drivers should take before striking out this winter.
