Friday marks the last weekday workers will have to go without the South Branch of the CTA's Red Line. After five months, the stops from Cermak-Chinatown all the way down to the 95th-Dan Ryan station reopen on Sunday.
As the second week of the Red Line Reconstruction Project got under way, the Chicago Transit Authority was reminding riders that free shuttle buses are available to and from many closed Red Line stations to open train stops.
Parts of the CTA's Green Line will shut down again this weekend as crews work to repair the tracks. The Halsted and Ashland-63rd Street stations will close Friday night at 10 p.m. and reopen Monday at 4 a.m.
