It's a boy! The Shedd Aquarium announced on June 12, 2012, that its two-week-old Pacific-sided dolphin and his mother are getting along swimmingly. The male calf still has to reach many milestones, according to Shedd staff.

A male black-footed cat kitten was born at Brookfield Zoo on February 14, 2012. Because his mom was not providing him with proper maternal care, staff quickly intervened and began hand-rearing him at the Animal Hospital.
