Charity ball to benefit breast cancer
Arthur Murray Studios Chicago announced the initial list of celebrities scheduled to perform at the Third Annual Dancing With Chicago Celebrities, a charity ball to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer.
The event will take place on March 7th 2008, in the beautiful Crystal Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Chicago and feature a "Celebrity Dance-Off" pairing local personalities with professional dance instructors. The program for the evening will also feature professional dance demonstrations with world-class dancers, general dancing, dessert, and the chance to be part of the ballroom dancing phenomenon right here in Chicago.
"Once again, we are overwhelmed by the generosity and support of all the Chicago area media stars who have agreed to dance at our event!" said Jill DeMarlo, event founder and Arthur Murray Dance Centers Chicago franchisee. "I am pleased to announce that the following celebrities are scheduled to compete in the celebrity dance-off on March 7th":
For the third year in a row, Chicago celebrities and many of the celebrities who have participated in previous years will be attending the event. Rick Bayless came back in a command performance. This year, Mike Adamle, a competitor in 2007 will serve as emcee of the event. This year the proceeds will be donated to two organizations working hard in the fight against breast cancer: A Silver Lining Foundation and the Chicagoland affiliate of Susan G. Komen For The Cure."
"These two organizations do amazing work and provide tremendous support for so many people in the Chicagoland area," said Jane Melvin, who will chair the event again this year. "We are humbled by the incredible efforts of both A Silver Lining and Komen For The Cure and we are inspired to do what we can to help."
The 2008 event will once again feature head judge Nick Kosovich, most recently seen on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars." In addition, celebrities from past years, including NBA superstar Kendall Gill and local television personality and 2007 winner Dan Ponce are scheduled to return for special alumni performances.
