Last day to apply for DTV coupons

July 31, 2009 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Friday, July 31 is the deadline to apply for the $40 government DTV converter box coupons.

All television stations, including ABC7 Chicago went digital June 12, 2009, and some viewers required converter boxes to be able to see the digital signal.

Coupons expire 90 days after they are mailed and will have the expiration date printed on the coupon. Even though the last day to apply for coupons while supplies last is July 31, 2009, consumers can use their coupons at participating retailers until they expire. Converter boxes can be purchased at most national retail stores.

Anyone with a valid coupon could exchange it for a converter box at no additional charge at 205 North Michigan Avenue Friday, while supplies lasted.
