Mayor Rahm Emanuel is expected to announce Wednesday that Chicago will combine its two tourism organizations into one office to cut costs and boost marketing.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau, which sells the city as a destination for conventions, will combine with the Chicago Office of Tourism and Culture.

The merger is expected to cut more than $1 million in annual costs.

The new organization has not been named yet, but it reportedly will launch July 1.

The organization will aim to boost the number of annual visitors to Chicago, which is now 40 million.

The city of Chicago ranks 10th in the nation for most visitors.
