September 3, 2012 (WLS) -- The Secret Service says a truck rented to carry equipment for Vice President Joe Biden's Labor Day visit to Detroit was stolen outside a downtown Detroit hotel.
Agency spokesman Ed Donovan told The Detroit News that the U-Haul truck was stolen outside the Westin Book Cadillac hotel early Sunday. Donovan says the truck had equipment but no weapons. Donovan says the theft won't affect Biden's Labor day plans. Biden is addressing a union rally Monday to mark Labor Day. The rally site is near the hotel. Detroit police spokeswoman Sgt. Eren Stephens says its officers are searching for the van.
