February 15, 2010 (WLS) -- Should teenagers who are caught "sexting" be charged with possession of child pornography and be required to register as sex offenders?
It could happen to two middle school students in Indiana. Their charges are now pending. It's a serious question many states are trying to address: how to deal with, legally, this growing practice of kids sending nude photos to each other via cell phone.
Laws regarding sexting: Illinois -- sexting can be a felony that can result in up to 30 years in jail
Arizona -- sexting could qualify as sexual exploitation of a minor
Vermont, Ohio, Utah -- passsed legislation making sexting a misdemeanor
Pennsylvania, Connecticut, North Dakota, Ohio, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Wiconsin -- teens are being prosecuted for sexting
