March 16, 2007 (WLS) -- In this TechSmart: style maybe the key to marketing cell phones these days. LG has introduced a new model that is sleek and fashionable.

The company hopes you'll take a liking to the Shine. The Korean based LG is feeling squeezed by cell phone giants Motorola and Nokia. So it's betting that the attractive Shine, with it's brushed steel casing and large screen, will make a fashion statement.

Here's something right out of Robocop or the bionic man: researcher Mark Humayun is developing a computerized eye implant to bypass the retina. It consists of a chip that's surgically implanted in the back of the eye. A small camera mounted on a pair of glasses and transmits images to the chip Signals are then sent along the optic nerve to the patient's brain.

And now even your wireless headset has caller ID. This is the BlueAnt V12 Bluetooth headset. An LCD screen allows you to tell who's calling. The V12 costs about $60. My only question is -- how to you read the LCD screen if the headset is on your ear?
