April 30, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Kellogg is feeling the heat from social media sites over its popular Kashi cereal.
It started one week ago when a grocer in Rhode Island placed a note on his store shelves. He said he would not sell the cereal because he found out the brand used genetically engineered, non-organic ingredients even though Kellogg calls it 'natural.' That was posted on Facebook and some food blogs. Kellogg is being accused of misleading consumers. Kashi's general manager says the FDA does not regulate the term 'natural.' Kashi is described as minimally processed and made with no artificial colors, flavors, preservatives or sweeteners.
