Microsoft tablet? Announcement expected Monday

  

June 15, 2012 (LOS ANGELES) (WLS) -- It looks like Microsoft is ready to go head-to-head with Apple.

Microsoft has invited reporters to a super-secret event on Monday in Los Angeles. Although the tech giant gave no hints about what it has planned, a source says Microsoft plans to unveil a tablet to rival the iPad. In an email, the company says, "This will be a major Microsoft announcement -- you will not want to miss it."

There has been talk of a Microsoft tablet for years, but nothing has ever surfaced.

The venue suggests it has to do with the entertainment industry.
