Baby formula recalled

Monday, May 28, 2007

The Ross Products division of Abbott Laboratories has recalled about 5,000 cases of baby formula.

The recall involves *only* two-ounce bottles of a kind of liquid formula, used only for premature infants. "Similac special care 24 calorie ready-to-feed premature infant formula with iron" is sold primarily through pharmacies.

The defective product does not contain as much iron as indicated on the label. It could give infants an increased risk of developing anemia. The recall is limited to some lot numbers included in stock code of 59582.

For more information, call Abbott Labs at 1-888-899-9182.
