Indoor pools may contribute to childhood asthma

Tuesday, June 05, 2007

Exposing your infant regularly to indoor pools may raise their risk of developing asthma.

European researchers compared a group of children who swim; some began as infants and others waited until they were older.

Findings show those who began as infants were 50 percent more likely to report wheezing.

They were almost four times more likely to experience chest tightness and have shortness of breath.

This study appears in the Journal of Pediatrics.
