Vitamins and cancer--- A new study suggests if you take the dietary supplements to ward off the dreaded disease, you may be wasting your money.

Some supplements are sold as insurance against cancer. A review in the 'Journal of the National Cancer Institute' finds no such evidence. The authors say: Vitamins C and E do not protect against cancer. Beta Carotene does not prevent lung cancer and selenium fails to stop prostate cancer in average risk men.

In fact, they note several anti-oxidant trials have shown increased cancer risk with some supplements. Still, the report encourages further research on the topic.
