Study: C-Section babies more likely to become obese

May 24, 2012 (WLS) -- There is yet another reason for women to think twice about an elective C-section: Researchers say babies born through caesarean section are twice as likely to become obese compared to babies born traditionally.

Researchers from Boston Children's Hospital found a doubling in the odds of obesity by the time the child was 3 years old.

The team suggests birth by C-section might affect bacteria in the gut, which in turn affects the way food is digested.
