Former Cook County judge and convicted felon, Thomas Maloney, died Monday.
According to Maloney's former attorney, Terence Gillespie, he suffered from kidney failure and had been living in a nursing home.
Maloney was found guilty in April 1993 of accepting thousands of dollars in bribes for fixing three murder cases and a fourth felony case. He had retired from the bench in 1990.
His conviction was part of the investigation into judicial corruption dubbed Operation Greylord in the mid-1980s.
During a 1999 I-Team jailhouse interview with the former judge, Maloney adamantly denied ever taking money to throw cases.
Maloney was 83 years old.
