October 25, 2005 (WLS) -- White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf is doing his part to get some Sox fans to the games in Houston. He's sending about 250 people -- Sox employees and their families -- to Minute Maid Park.
"We're very fortunate the organization has given us a chance to experience this. This is a once in a lifetime thing, so we're excited," said Kai Freeman, White Sox employee.
"We'll sweep them and be right back. It's our time to shine. It's long overdue," said John Calabrese, 28-Year White Sox employee.
Reinsdorf chartered the plane and paid for hotel rooms and game tickets.
"I get the week off because that is the way he treated employees. Knows that we're fans as well as employees and made it possible to make this arrangement to be no Houston to support the fans," said Eddie Harris, Reinsdorf's Personal Assistant.
"Perfect time to be an intern because we're going all the way," said Jonathan Wright, White Sox Intern.
"It's really been nice. You can see the team concept and everybody is getting together and all the employees here are the same way," said Glenn Blackwell, White Sox Electrician.
About 125 people in the group work for the Sox. The others are spouses and family members.
"I'm married to a sox employee. I'm along for the ride," said Ken Weiss, White Sox employee's husband. "A great ride. This has been a thrill since the beginning, and we're going all the way."
The three busloads of people were welcomed at O'Hare, where they boarded planes bound for Houston.
"They better watch out because Chicago's a'coming. And we're bringing the Sox with us," said Shau Booker, White Sox Employee.
