Gunmen open fire on Robbins police officer

Thursday, December 28, 2006

South suburban police are looking for a group of men who shot up a police car as an officer sat inside.

Several bullet holes dot the Robbins police car. The officer was not hurt. He was conducting surveillance when a group of eight to 10 men wearing dark, hooded clothing opened fire on his car around 1 a.m. Thursday morning.

The gunfire prompted an emergency police call which brought in officers from neighboring towns, and state police.
