Teens charged with using stolen American flags to torch police car

Tuesday, February 20, 2007

Two teenagers in northwest Indiana are charged with setting fire to a police car last month using burning American flags.

Eighteen-year-old Christopher Campbell is charged with arson. Prosecutors say he soaked stolen American flags in gasoline, lit them and used them to set fire to a Hobart Police Department patrol car. A 16-year old is also charged.

The incident happened on New Year's Day.

The $16,000 squad car was a total loss.
