June 1, 2007 (WLS) -- Three suspects have been arrested in a deadly Chicago bank shooting.
FBI officials say the round-up ended Friday evening. Two men were arrested Friday and another one earlier this week. Twenty-three-year-old Tramaine Gibson was killed in the robbery. He was a bank teller. His family gathered Friday night for his wake. Gibson's funeral is Saturday morning.
The father of Tramaine Gibson, still in the process of burying his son, greeted well-wishers Friday night and is still absorbing the news about the recent arrests.
"This is great news...great news. The law enforcement, everyone has been very supportive of us. And we really thank them," said Verton Gibson Jr., victim's father.
"No matter how they got caught, they still got caught, so it's a relief to know the FBI, the CIA, Chicago Police Department, that they are at least doing exactly what they're suppose to be doing," said Verton William Gibson III, victim's brother.
Tramaine Gibson, who was married and a father of two, was working at the Illinois Service Federal Savings and Loan on May 22. That day, three armed, masked men stormed the building. The surveillance photos show the robbers, weapons in hand. The FBI says all three are in custody.
"They fit the description of the robbers that was given to us by witnesses and we obtained from the video surveillance cameras," said Ross Rice, FBI spokesman.
Two others were wounded that day: 73-year-old Dorothy Sanders and the security guard, Earl Coleman. The bank's drive-thru reopened Friday and the bank may reopen next week.
"Justice doesn't hurt. It makes people feel reassurred. Safety is not guaranteed, but it's a work in progress," said CEO of Illinois Federal Savings and Loan, Norman Williams.
The FBI says strong police work helped seal the case, along with evidence obtained from the getaway car. The suspects are being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center.
An FBI spokesman says all three suspects will be charged with armed bank robbery. Since there is a death involved, those charges are expected to be upgraded at a later date. The first suspect will appear in court Saturday morning.
