June 22, 2007 (WLS) -- A card game between residents at a senior citizens' home in the western suburbs took a violent turn.
Maywood police are trying to find out why an elderly man shot a woman he was playing cards with at the Garden House Apartments Thursday night. Police say the suspect then shot himself.
The victim believes the suspect could have fired more bullets if his gun didn't jam.
"And he had the gun, 'What you doing?'And (he) aimed it towards me. And, when he clicked it, I turned my shoulder. And it hit me right here," said Eula Gillespie, victim.
Charges are pending against the suspect.
