September 25, 2007 (WLS) -- Residents in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood are calling for the city to clean up what they call a problem area.
Members of the community group ACORN - Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now - marched near the old paint factory at 74th and Green.
They claim police and city officials have not done enough to stop drug dealing and prostitution in that area. ACORN members say their tax dollars are not being used to fight the problem in their neighborhood.
"This place looked like a war zone last night. This morning, there was an army out here to clean it up. It's not what it looked like yesterday," said William Store of ACORN. "Although we appreciate the city coming out, we need it maintained. We need the owner of this factory to come down and take care of this, or the city come down and do something constructive with it."
Chicago police spokeswoman Monique Bond says the building is already targeted on the department's Troubled Buildings Initiative list, and it's in the process of being addressed.
