Chicago police are warning residents about an attempted child abduction on the city's South Side.

It happened Tuesday morning in the 1300 block of West 82nd Street.

An 11-year old girl told police a man tried to lure her into a car as she walked to school. She ran to a nearby crossing guard who called police.

Investigators believe this may be the same suspect wanted in a separate attempted abduction of a 13-year-old girl.

The suspect was driving a blue Ford or Mercury four-door sedan. He is described as African American, 25 - 30 years old with a scar over his right eye that extends beyond the bridge of his nose.

Police say parents should never allow children to walk alone and to help them identify safe havens in the areas where they do walk.

Anyone with information on the suspect should contact Chicago police.
