CHICAGO (WLS) -- Hundreds of people mourned the death of Kiyanna Salter, who was shot to death while riding a CTA bus last week, on Monday.
Friends and family arrived at Saint Sabina's Church to pay their last respects.
The 17-year-old Julian High School student was fatally shot on October 5th while riding a CTA bus after helping a family member.
"So many like to say that Kiyanna was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. She wasn't! She was on her way home from visiting a sick aunt. She was on the bus with her best friend Jasmine. She was doing the right thing," said Fr. Michael Pfleger, St. Sabina Church.
Milton Wardlaw, 24, has been charged with Salter's slaying. Wardlaw claims another man fired the fatal shots.
