Missing Highland Park teen found

February 22, 2009 (DEERFIELD, Ill.) -- The family of a missing 17-year-old girl says she has been found and is safe.

Caroline Stitcher had been missing since Friday and was last seen leaving Deerfield High School Friday around 3:15 p.m. going for a run. She did not come home afterward.

Police and volunteers spent most of the day Saturday searching for Stitcher, who returned to her home Saturday evening. There was no word on where she was found or where she had been.

Authorities were not saying much about the case Sunday. Deerfield police issued a statement saying they had determined, "the situation was not a matter of public safety."

The girl's family said Saturday night that they were taking her to a hospital to be checked out.
