A unity breakfast was held Sunday for Democrats in the 5th congressional district.

Cook County Cmsr. Mike Quigley won the primary over 11 other Democrats. Several of those candidates showed up for the breakfast.

Quigley said the most important issue facing the government is the economy, but he also says it's time to clean up politics in Illinois.

"Given the struggles we've had in Illinois, with the Burris-Blago debacle, reform and transparency will be very important in everyone's mind," Quigley.

The Republican candidate is Rosanna Pulido, and the Green party candidate is Matt Reichel.

The special election will be held April 7.
