Mayor Daley stressed that he and his aides have taken furlough days that he has asked other city employees to take.

"Report it, that I took all the furlough dates. All my staff took all their furlough dates. This is all without pay, without pay. I've always done it. I hope you do it for your company. I did it last year," said Daley.

The mayor wants all city employees other than police officers and firefighters to take days off without pay.

He says it is needed to help the city balance a $300 million budget deficit.
