July 4, 2009 (LISLE, Ill.) (WLS) -- A group of people frustrated with taxes and what they call reckless government spending held a so-called tea party on this Independence Day.
They gathered in west suburban Lisle. The event was organized by a group called Illinois Tea Party Patriots.
A spokesperson says politicians in both Springfield and Washington are building up debt that is destructive to the American way of life.
Organizers hope events like this one will get the attention of elected officials.
