Lawmakers push for immigration reform

  

August 3, 2009 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- A coalition of Illinois lawmakers are pushing President Obama to move forward on immigration reform.

Representative Luis Gutierrez is among seven House members signing a letter calling on the president to advance the issue this year.

The letter expresses strong congressional support for moving forward on fair and humane comprehensive immigration reform, including a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.

The letter is also signed by Representatives Bobby Rush, Jan Schakowsky and Jesse Jackson Jr.
