The Chicago Bears are suing a jailed businessman who's accused of running a multi-million dollar Ponzi scheme.

The team claims that David Hernandez defrauded it out of $50,000 in sponsorship funds.

In the lawsuit, Bears officials say the team had an advertising deal with Hernandez and his now defunct ChicagoSportsWebio.com and that Hernandez did not hold up his part of the deal.

Hernandez is currently in jail awaiting trial on criminal charges connected to the Ponzi scheme. He has said he's not guilty of those charges.

ABC7 was unable to reach Hernandez for a comment on the lawsuit.
