County clinics dole out H1N1 vaccine

Wednesday, October 28, 2009

Will County's first H1N1 vaccination clinic began on Wednesday.

And lines were long, as seen throughout the Chicago area.

In Will County, the wait started on the road to Plainfield Central High School. And once folks parked, they had to walk and stand in line up to three hours. They waited for Will County's first H1N1 vaccination clinic.Click here for more info on Will Co. clinics

"It is what it is, I kind of expected it," said Denise Ryan, mother.

"I have no problem waiting," said Rogelio Aguirre.

Two thousand people were guaranteed to get the nasal mist on Wednesday night. The rest were warned.

"It's more or less wait at your own risk," announced a clinic worker.

"Since we're close to the 2,000 mark, I guess we'll wait it out," said Tony Sorensen, father.

Elsewhere on Wednesday, Kane County expected to deplete its supply of 17,500 vaccinations, forcing them to cancel upcoming clinics.Click here for more info on Kane Co. clinics

Back in Will County, the vaccinations continued into the night.

"It was an awful long wait for a very short process. Not bad at all," said Tracy Kacpura.

Back outside, the parking lot remained full, even though there is no guarantee that people can get the vaccination. But Will County health officials remind everyone that this is the first clinic and there are six more scheduled before mid November.
