The Chicago Police Department has a new addition to the department's canine unit.

Pantera, a 16-month-old Labrador Retriever, was from a shelter in southwest suburban Chicago Ridge. He graduated from an eight week narcotics training program and is the police department's youngest certified canine.

As the newest addition to the department's canine unit, Pantera will be on the streets sniffing out illegal drugs. His partner and trainer said Pantera will retire at age 10 which translates to about 70 in dog years. After retiring, Pantera will live with his partner.
