Suspect charged in Gary double murder

Prosecutors have charged a suspect in the murders of a Gary woman and her daughter.

The bodies of 79-year-old Lillie Miller, and her daughter Donessa, were found in their home.

The Lake County, Indiana coroner determined that they died of asphyxiation.

Mayor Rudy Clay said the suspect, Willie Steele, is charged with nine counts of murder, robbery, burglary, and confinement.

Mayor clay said his city has suffered 13 murders in the past month, and he urged residents to help police solve crimes.
