Area high schools receive broadcasting awards

The seventh annual John Drury High School Radio awards were presented Saturday in North Central College.

The awards are named for late, distinguished ABC7 anchor and former radio broadcaster John Drury who passed away two years ago.

ABC7 anchor and reporter Stacey Baca was a guest of honor.

Lyons Township High School won the best radio station award.

John Drury Golden Microphones were also awarded for best newscast, news feature, public affairs, sports, drama, and other categories.
