The 71st anniversary of Kristallnacht, or "Night of Broken Glass" was marked at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Skokie Sunday.

More than 150 people, including Holocaust survivors and their families, gathered in the museum's auditorium to commemorate November 9, 1938, when the Nazis attacked synagogues, hospitals and homes in Germany. More than 100 Jews were killed.

Before Sunday's event, there was a special tribute outside of the museum to the courageous acts of Holocaust rescuers. Four new names were added to the museum's Fountain of the Righteous.

Three survivors were also on hand to remember the brave people who risked their own lives to keep them safe.
