Suburban soldier killed in Afghanistan

  

November 24, 2009 (WLS) -- Army Specialist Jason McLeod from northwest suburban Crystal Lake has been killed in Afghanistan. He also served in 2007 in the conflict in Iraq.

Specialist McLeod was 22 years old, and was just weeks away from coming home on leave. He died Monday during a mortar attack. McLeod was married, and was the father of a 15-month-old daughter.

The 2006 graduate of Crystal Lake Central High School was a mechanic who serviced humvee armored vehicles.
