Police have arrested two suburban men allegedly involved in a business scam that targeted nearly 100 victims.

Lloyd Morris, 34, of Deerfield, Ill., and Marco Maggiore, 35, of Buffalo Grove, Ill., were charged money laundering, computer and mail fraud, and theft.

According to police, Morris and Maggiore sold promotional items, including golf balls, at extremely low prices. The suspects collected payment but never provided the products. When the victims contacted the men, they provided fake shipping tracking numbers and manufacturing problems as excuses for not receiving the items.

Police have identified at least 88 victims who were bilked of more than $400,000. Police also say the suspects victimized corporations and charitable organizations.

Morris and Maggiore were being held at Lake County Jail, each on $1 million bonds.
