May 19, 2011 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Police searched an area near Castle Rock State Park for 6-year-old Timmothy Pitzen, who has been missing for almost a week.
The Aurora boy was last seen with his mother, Amy Fry-Pitzen, 43, who was found dead in a Rockford motel room. Police say she killed herself, but left behind a note that Timmothy was safe and with an unnamed person. But no one has come forward to say they have the boy.
"He is with somebody. We don't know who he is. I don't understand why the person who has him has not come forward," James Pitzen said.
Timmothy was last seen on surveillance video on May 12 as his mother checked them out of the Wisconsin Dells resort. The boy's child safety seat and backpack were not in her car.
"I'm just terrified that I'm going to have to do two funerals and not just one funeral and that I won't see him again," Pitzen said.
Aurora police are working with several jurisdictions in their search of areas in Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa. On Thursday, the multiagency operation looked around Sterling, Rock Falls and Dixon near Castle Rock State Park, including the I-88 and I-39 corridor. Cell phone records indicate they were there.
"Every day that goes by is a bad thing. Every day makes it a little harder to believe that there's not any kind of harm that's come to the boy, but we are hopeful," Lt. Pete Inda, Aurora Police Investigative Division, said.
"I'm going to be hopeful until we find him," Pitzen said.
Timmothy has brown eyes and hair and weighs about 70 pounds.
