December 24, 2011 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- About 35 disabled veterans from the Hines and Jesse Brown VAs are training for a ski competition next year.
They plan to participate in the 39th annual American Birkebeiner Nordic Ski Race in Wisconsin in February.
Their trainer, John Brown, who is with the Central Cross Country Ski Association, provided ABC7 with photos.
He says the group is enthusiastic and is proof that those with disabilities can participate in winter sports.
