Funeral held for Elgin Marine killed in Afghanistan

April 14, 2012 (HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill.) (WLS) -- A funeral service was held Saturday for fallen Marine Corporal Alex Martinez.

Martinez' funeral procession went from his hometown of Elgin to Life-Changers International Church in northwest suburban Hoffman Estates.

Martinez was killed in combat last week in Afghanistan.

His body was flown into O'Hare Airport yesterday.

The 21-year-old was on his second deployment to Afghanistan.

A private military burial was to follow today's funeral service.
