The Humane Society is offering a $2,500 reward for information in the death of an Illinois race horse, Lady May Z.

The harness race horse was shot between the eyes with a captive bolt gun, which is used on slaughter animals in livestock processing plants, on May 29.

The 8-year-old trotting horse was scheduled to race the next day at Balmoral Park in south suburban Crete.
