June 26, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- The Forest Preserve District of Cook County kicks off its new Films in the Forest series Tuesday night with the showing of Red Tails in the Kickapoo Woods.
Red Tails is the first of four films that will be shown in the Cook County Forest Preserve. The movies, which all relate to nature, are free and open to the public. Attendees are invited to bring a picnic dinner to enjoy.
Films in the Forest: Movie List
- Red Tails Location: Kickapoo Woods, 144th and Halsted, Riverdale
Date/Time: June 26th, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.
Description: In honor of the Red Tails screening movie-goers can enjoy a model plane flying demo by Chicago Model Masters as well as other fun flying activities.
- We Bought A Zoo Location: Cummings Square, 536 N. Harlem, River Forest
Date/Time: July 10th, 2012 at 6:30 p.m.
Description: Animal fun starts at 6:30 p.m. Then at dusk the movie will start.
- Where the Wild Things Are Location: Whealan Pool, 6200 W. Devon, Chicago Date/Time: July 24th, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. Description: The first ever "swim-in movie/" you will be able to make "wild things," build boats and have other fun. At dusk the pool will turn into a movie house where they will show the movie.
- Big Year Location: Swallow Cliff, Calumet Sag Rd. & 96th Ave., Palos Park
Date/Time: August 14th, 2012 at 6:30 p.m.
Description:Come learn about birds, make and fly a kite, and then at dusk watch the movie on the big screen.
