Chicagoans to vote on electricity aggregation plan

  

June 27, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Chicagoans will get to vote on a plan aimed at lowering electric bills. The City Council approved the idea to put a referendum on the ballot in November.

If voters approve, the Emanuel administration would negotiate the bulk purchase of electricity on behalf of residential and small business customers.

The idea, known as municipal aggregation, has recently been approved by more than 250 villages and cities in Illinois.
