1 charged in fight following Maywood motorcycle crash

August 14, 2012 (MAYWOOD, Ill.) (WLS) -- Charges have been filed in a weekend incident in Maywood involving an off-duty Chicago police officer.

John Passley of Bellwood is charged with aggravated battery to a police officer and is due in court Tuesday.

Passley is accused of attacking the officer whose motorcycle struck his 4-year-old cousin Saturday night.

During an altercation, the officer shot and killed the girl's father, Christopher Middleton, who also allegedly attacked him following the crash.

The officer was on his way home when police say the child darted into the street.

The officer is said to have crashed his bike to avoid hitting her, but the little girl ended up getting hurt slightly.
