August 16, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- The former Children's Memorial Hospital site in Lincoln Park will not be turned into condominiums.
Alderman Michelle Smith rejected the proposal to turn the site near Fullerton and Lincoln avenues into condos and storefronts. After holding community meetings, Smith said residents are opposed to the plan because the area is already congested- and parents are concerned about overcrowding in schools.
