Crowds turn out for Air and Water show

August 18, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- There was more perfect weather for the second and final day of the 54th Annual Chicago Air and Water Show as the skies were clear again Sunday, and the rain stayed away.

Another successful air and water show has come to an end.

"We have a great time every year," said David Iacobazzi. "The weather, the show is great."

A second day of picture perfect weather brought the crowds out in droves. The city now estimates that over two million people watched the Chicago Air and Water Show over the course of the weekend.

"The amount of crowd, especially yesterday, Saturday, the excitement on people's faces as they are leaving, that's a success, when everyone is leaving having a good time," said show manager John Trick.

Just as the spectators have their favorite acts, so do those who delight us with their aerobatics have their favorite cities.

"We spent about an hour and a half flying around on the plane yesterday with the ramp down in the C-130 aircraft just taking pictures of the Chicago skyline," said US Navy Seal and Leap Frog Justin Gonzales.

After parachuting onto North Avenue Beach, US Golden Knight Noah Watts ....said that it may be a job, but it's one that never gets old.

"I love my job," Watts said. "Every time we jump it's a tribute to those who are serving overseas. How can that ever get old? I love my job."

And of course, the grand finale was performed by the US Navy Blue Angels. Their F/A-18 Hornets flew for nearly 45 minutes, performing maneuvers that are not for the faint of heart.

Blue Angels fans are going to have to wait until 2014 to see them again in Chicago, as next year it will be ht US Air Force Thunderbirds headlining the show.
