Evergreen Park School District 124 teachers set strike date

  

September 26, 2012 (EVERGREEN PARK, Ill.) (WLS) -- The third teachers strike in the Chicago area this school year may start in less than a week.

The teachers union from Evergreen Park School District 124 set a Tuesday strike date after failing to reach a deal over five months of contract negotiations.

The union is scheduled to meet with a federal mediator again Wednesday.

About 1,800 students at five schools would be affected if teachers walk off their jobs.
