October 26, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Groupon will release a holiday toy catalog this November, so the Chicago-based company asked some second graders for advice.
On Friday, Groupon's headquarters became a second grade classroom. The school children learned persuasive speaking- and the company learned which toys they want this holiday season."It's awesome to see that, at this early age, they can already give a review if something is going to be fun or not. They are the experts," Meredith McNamara, teacher, said.
The experts on toys, and experts from which Groupon wants advice for a brand new toy catalog.
"I think it's really fun and I think other kids would really kids would like to play with them," Katherine Garcia, student.
As the kids were having fun, Groupon employees are working hard to launch the toy catalog, expected out in November.
"We're going to have an entire catalog, so there's going to be something for everyone. Whether its toddlers, all the way up to 10-12 year olds," Brett Runyan, Groupon, said.
So every toy is being tested to be on the site from an iPhone-controlled helicopter to Legos and remote-controlled trucks.
"This is really fun, and I got to build different Legos," Max Rojas said.
"It drives really fast and it's easy for me to control," Jonathan Villegas, student, said.
Groupon plans to stick to its game plan of providing deep discounts within the toy catalog.
"I think it's a convenient spot to find the biggest toys of the season at a lower price than you can find anywhere else," Shane Smith, Groupon, said.
