December 18, 2012 (LOMBARD, Ill.) (WLS) -- West suburban police are investigating after a newborn was found dead in a dumpster at Yorktown Center Mall in Lombard.
Glendale Heights police say a teen delivered the baby Thursday at a home in that suburb and then left it in a dumpster at the mall. It is unclear whether she delivered at her home or someone else's.
The baby was found Saturday after the girl went to the hospital because of complications from delivery. She told doctors what had happened and they contacted police.
There has been no word whether any charges will be filed.
It is not clear whether the teen is still hospitalized.
An autopsy has been performed on the baby. Results are pending.
